February 1st & 2nd Invitational Performance Lists

Virginia High School's Brian Huffman is the state leader in the shot put with a season best throw of 57'8.50". He will be one of the top athletes featured at this weekend's Virginia Tech Invitational in Blacksburg when he faces off against Matthew Zajac of E.C. Glass, who recently threw for a personal best mark of 57'3.75" in the shot.

Performance lists for this weekend's invitationals at Boo Williams Sportsplex, Liberty University, and Virginia Tech. This is the final weekend of invitational meets prior to championship season gets into full swing with numerous district championships being held over the weekdays next week and the private school state championship meet being held at week's end.

The Virginia Tech Invitational was pushed a weekend later than previous years, which has forced many of the state's top teams and athletes to skip it with either their district championship meet completed, underway, or about to begin early in the next week. Nonetheless, there is a good portion of the state's top tier athletes and relays in Blacksburg for this weekend to take advantage of the fast banked indoor track found at the Virginia Tech's Rector Fieldhouse.

Meanwhile, the Atlantic Coast Invitational finds itself head-to-head with the Tech Invitational for the first time after being the state's premier last chance indoor invitational over the past few years at the Boo Williams Sportsplex. They will have plenty of talent in Hampton this weekend between homegrown and teams coming from out-of-the-area attempting to improve their seed times and marks for championship season. Other invitationals this weekend include the CVTFF Last Chance Invitational at the Arthur Ashe Center in Richmond and the Bulldog Qualifier at the Tolsma Track Center in Lynchburg.
