Hermitage alumni Katie Hedley (class of 2005) and Cary Chaffee (class of 2003) won the first of two St. Joseph\'s Villa Powerade Summer 5K Series races to be held in Richmond this month on Thursday evening. College of Charleston sophomore Hedley won the girls race in 20:32, while recent Atlee grad Rebecca McDowell (21:07) held off rising Maggie Walker sophomore Susannah Piersol (21:08) for second. Current VCU runner Chaffee closed fast on the last mile for a 16:24 win, while Deep Run\'s Drew Spicer was the top high school finisher behind a pack of current collegiate runners in seventh at 18:07.
