Brooke Point girls dominated the team competition as they racked up 90 points, well ahead of second place North Stafford with 71.50 points. They did so well even without one of the state's top track athletes in Keosha Sanders.
Jennifer Nelms of Spotsylvania ran extremely well at the meet. She won the 200m dash and 400m dash in impressive times of 26.64 and 59.64.
The Woodbridge won the boys team title with a score of 66 points using the "nickel-n-dime" approach getting points here and there with not many individual event winners though, Woodbridge distance runner Mike Lyng won the 3200m race in 9:53.64 to help secure the win against a tough Spotsylvania squad.
The Spotsylvania boys squad definitely has some of the best sprinters and jumpers in 2A with the likes of Matt Echols, Julius Talley, Bryan Morgan, and Adam Johnson. Spotsylvania will be a tough team to beat this outdoor season for the other 2A teams with this great depth in the sprint and jumping events.
