If you glance over the indoor leaderboard you will see some names you've seen for years and others that are new. One name that should jump out is Imani Moore of Varina who leads the state in the 300m dash. The time is fast but when you look to the right of the name you see her graduation year of 2029 meaning she is an 8th grader and already leading the state!
Even as just an eighth grader, Imani owns personal bests of 7.20 in the 55m dash, 40.30 in the 300m dash on a flat track, 16-10 in the long jump, and 58.92 in the 400 outdoors.
Imani was week one's performer of the week but with speed like that you can expect to see her name on those type of lists of the next five years.
On top of her being a stellar athlete that we are excited to watch over the next few years, we are also excited to watch her team grow as well. Varina now has a new athletics director (who is formerly a track coach) and a new coaching staff meaning this school is on the upward trend and when you combine all of that you can expect fireworks.
