OAKVILLE, AL -- The SE #5 Lake Braddock girls finished second to a very tough MW #3 Minister of Ohio team at the Jesse Owens Invitational held at the Oakville Indian Mounds Park in Oakville, Alabama as Coach Mike Mangan\'s team got its first true test this fall. The Lady Bruins earned a fair grade in Alabama as they were 27 points behind the Ohio team as senior Michelle Presley led the team with a seventh place personal best run of 18:28.42.
Minster had three runners under 19 minutes and in the top 12 places, which was too much for Lake Braddock to overcome, but still had solid runs from Erin Landy (18th, 19:12.93), Hayley Sullivan (22nd, 19:19.67), Anna Corrigan (28th, 19:37.35), and Christine Moore (34th, 19:46.82) to round out their top five. Moore, who has been battling sickness the past two races, beat top finisher at Jesse Owens in Presley at their team opener and certaintly at top form could have made for a decent point swing in Lake Braddock\'s favor.
Finishing in third and fourth behind Lake Braddock were two previously ranked Nike Team Nationals Southeast squads from Alabama in Scottsboro (3rd, 117 pts) and Mountain Brook (4th,118 pts).
