MileStat.com is reaching out to interview and recognize all of the head coaches from the victorious cross country state championship teams from this past weekend to give them the opportunity to reflect and share their feelings and thoughts on their team's successful fall seasons culminating with state team titles. Radford High School cross country Mike Carrow had led his boys' team to two state titles in 2007 and 2012, but finally got his girls to achieve the same success at the state level with their first state title in school history on Saturday. The Radford girls won the Group 1A title by 37 points and were led by two underclassmen in freshmen Mary Elliot and sophomore Cameron Schafer taking two of the top three places individually in the race. Their squad also got 25 finishes from freshmen Elliot Van Noy (16th, 21:39), junior Laura Puckett (19th, 21:47), and Carly Porter (23rd, 21:56) to complete their top five scoring and secure a first place spot on the awards podium.
