Maggie Walker coach Jim Holdren has coached high school cross country and track more years at 52 years consecutively than any current active coach in the state of Virginia. His longevity as a coach and consistency in producing great runners and teams annually has made him one of the state's most respected and highly respected coaches in the state of Virginia. However, it was not until last Saturday at Great Meadow that Coach Holdren achieved a coaching achievement first in having state champion teams for both boys and girls in the same state championship meet. The Maggie Walker boys and girls rolled through their new competition in their new classification home of Group 2A in the 6 class system after racing up in Group AAA in the old 3 class system despite significantly less enrollmenets than their competition.
