BLACKSBURG, VA -- While a short race distance of 4.7K made for some misleadingly fast cross country times, the great performances at the Virginia Tech Invitational were not misleading. Forest Park junior Bryce Iverson was clocked in a time of 15:11.85 to win the boys race (15:36.6 3 mile conversion). James Robinson senior Sam Rhodes finished second place with a solid time of 15:20.85 (15:45.3 3 mile conversion). The Brentsville guys took the field by surprise by walking away with the boys\' team title (46 pts) as they placed 4 runners in the top 15. The Fanning sisters of Western Albemarle, after finishing 1st and 3rd at last week\'s Fork Union Invitational, stepped it up even a further notch this week as senior Jessica took the individual title with her time of 17:29.55, while junior sister Tasmin, last week\'s Fork Union race champion, finished in at 17:39.12 for runner-up honors, as the Fannings led the Western Albemarle girls to a team title (30 pts). Beth Fahey finished third overall (17:46.13) and helped Forest Park to finish second (52 pts) behind Western Albemarle.
