Herndon & St. Catherine\'s athletes competing at the NY Armory today

Athletes from Herndon High School and St. Catherine\'s School will be competing in day one of the Hispanic Games today held at the New York Armory in New York City. Herndon senior Ermin Mujezinovic fresh off his classic battle with Chris Tyson of Washington-Lee in the 1600 in last week\'s F.I.T. Invite will be featured in the invitational mile among a solid field of runners. Mujezinovic has split 4:13 in the past for 1600 meters in a DMR. Fellow All-State cross country teammate Matt Giorgis will be competing in the men\'s two mile run on Friday evening as well.

The girls will be running the the 3K versus the two mile at the Armory with two Virginians in the field with defending VISAA state champion Carrie Wortham of St. Catherine\'s and Herndon sophomore Hiruni Wijayarante. Wortham is also a solid pole vaulter with a 10\'6\" best and is entered in the event as well with the 3K in New York.

A fellow VISAA state champion and teammates with Wortham at St. Catherine\'s, Virginia Ginn will be competing in the high jump in her first meet of the season.
