Radford, VA - Maggie Walker, Brunswick, Auburn, and George Wythe all put together great teams and performances to walk away with first ever 1A & 2A State Championships. Complete recap of each competition including many of the winners can be read here.
Leading all storylines from these two meets were two athletes, Meredith Willis and DaJuan Seward. Both of these atheltes scored an egregious amount of points for a state meet. Willis scored 50 points by winning both the 100 and 200 as well as the long and triple jumps to go along with her part on the 4x100m relay team. DaJuan on the other hand scored 56 points by winning the long and triple jumps, placing second in the high jump and 4x100 and winning the 110m hurdles and 300m hurdles. Willis however led her team to a state title but Seward's points proved not enough to catch the Green Dragons of Maggie Walker.
