Day one events are now completed (as well as results) from the Metro Run & Walk Northern Virginia Invitational at Oakton High School in Vienna.
Host school Oakton had a very strong showing on Friday as both boys and girls won the distance medley relays, while the boys 3200 meter run saw three of the top four finishers from Oakton including race winner Joe LoRusso in 9:37.21. Finishing in the top four with LoRusso were teammates Alex Nissen (2nd, 9:43.06) and Matt Saunders (4th, 9:57.08). It was quite an impressive showing for Coach Phil Tiller’s distance boys with three under 10 minutes in an early season invitational for the 3200 meter run.
Thomas Edison sophomore Leoule Degfae broke up a top three sweep for Oakton clocking in at 9:54.35 for third place in a very racing appearance at 3200 meters.
