The girls top race is going to be awesome. Though if you were hoping for a very close finish like the boys we are sorry to dissappoint you but we have Libby Davidson here this week. For those of you unfamiliar with her resume, let us refresh your memory. Libby, only a sophomore opened her season by winning the Knights Crossing Invitational in 17:36, a week later she followed that by running 17:19 to take home the title at Adidas XC and for her finale she ran away from the entire field and ran the third fastest time ever at Great American to win in 17:07. Simply put, she is just better then nearly anyone else in the state and will likely run away with the title this weekend. The excitement about her will be focused on that clock and if she can take down Sophie Chase's 17:22 meet record run back in 2011 at Pocahontas State Park.
Aside from Libby, we are going to get a good show from quite a few girls all within the top 25 in the state. Leading the way in that front will be VISAA state leader, Morgan Lewis of Veritas. Though she currently leads the rest of her competition by nearly 15 seconds, she will be much closer then that since many of these girls have yet to run on a non-hilly course. After Libby we are going to get another good show to see who finishes in the top 5 spots.
