Bay Rivers District boys fared better than their female counterparts at the Region I meet Thursday at Loriella Park in Fredericksburg.
As expected, Jamestown ran away with the boys’ team crown, placing four runners in the top five. But the non-Eagle among that group won the 5-kilometer race: Tabb’s Will Mulherin in 16:25.71.
Longtime Tabb coach George Coulter enjoyed Mulherin's showing.
"He just ran with a lot more determination (than he did in the district meet) and stayed with it the whole way," Coulter said. "He didn't look like he was under a lot of stress in the lead. I was quite pleased with his performance.
