Micah takes the final and closest spot on the boys' first team thanks in no small part to his huge finish in the Foot Locker South race. Everyone there was shocked to hear he made the cut considering he was 12th at the two mile mark and 40m behind 10th place with only 200m to go! He found another gear though and moved all the way up to 9th to punch his ticket to Foot Locker Nationals.
You can't help but root for him considering he is homeschooled and not allowed to compete in nearly any VHSL sanctioned event. This limits him a lot on getting great competition during the season. Despite this he has racked up numerous victories and faced some tough competition. The way he competed late in the season and most importantly at Foot Locker South edged him into this position.
*These selections are based on the following pieces of criteria in order of importance. When performances or times are close the other factors help decide between the multiple selections. Obviously not all courses are the same and adjustments are made for that as well.
