Liberty Flames Invitational Big Winners
Isiah Garland (Rustburg)
VA #3 6.37 55m Dash
In the short races you have to make due with what you got. This was the case in the prelims where Isiah may not have wanted to use everything he had but had no choice to after his phenomenal start. Though there was room for improvement, this was by far his best start this season and you could see it by the time! 6.37 to rank third in the state behind US #1 and US #4 Lyles and Holloway.
South Lakes Girls 4x400
VA #4 4:00.94
The South Lakes girls were back to defend their title after having won a fantastic close race to Parkland a year ago. The clocked a very impressive four flat this weekend to move to VA #4 against two banked track times and an oversized track time. If they can run this time here be ready to see them throw down some 3:53 times when states rolls around.
Maria Muzzio (James Robinson)
40-2 Shot Put
Though it wasn't her best performance of the season it was still a very good performance and one of the best of the entire year for anyone. She currently sits atop the state leaderboard with her 43-7.75 performance.
Maddie Rennyson (E.C. Glass)
3:00.72 1000m Run
It is not easy running five laps anywhere at speed and that is especially true at Liberty with its blind corners. She made good use of her experience though and was able to hold on and win the 1K in an impressive nearly-sub three performance. This shows everyone in 4A who the team to beat is with this consistent distance domination.
Granby Boys 4x200
1:32.26
Granby didn't run away with this race but they certainly did run fast. To clock a 1:32.26 here is crazy fast. This was also a meet record for the 4x200 but just shy of Forest Park's facility record set back when they ran some of the fastest times our state has ever seen.
Jordan Patti (Staunton River)
VA #2 53-5 Shot Put
Improving big time and moving up the leaderboard this weekend was Jordan who put himself into second in the state. He will be the top ranked guy at the 3A state meet to be held at Liberty in a little over a month. This was great practice for him and a great win as well.
