One Last Track Article... But Not The Last You Will Hear About VA's Newest Star!

Behind this 13 year old's bright smile is arguably the most talent and grit of any runner before her. This summer in the heat at AAU Olympic Nationals in Houston she put on a  show for Team VA. She won the 800 and placed third in the 400... her times were 2:12.49 and 55.40.

Yeah, she is that fast.

This likely is the first time you are hearing of her but it will guaranteed not be the last as she is quickly approaching the high school ranks. She is in the class of 2021 meaning she will be in the 8th grade this year.

Both her 400 and 800 times are very impressive and nearly impossible to discern between for which is better. Both rank right around 40th all-time in VA and are still a full two years away from being done with her freshman campaign.

If she continues on this trend then you are talking about a girl entering high school all ready on the all-time list... not even Francena McCorory or Sarah Bowman did that.

Could she be the most transcendent athlete for VA track ever?

Ok, we might be jumping the gun a little bit there but if you take a look at the stats and see her progression it is not too big of a jump to that conclusion.

Michaela has a long track career ahead of her and many races too. She competes both in NC and VA and it is still up unclear whether she will attend a public high school in VA or not. She lives in Suffolk which means she would have quite a few great schools to choose between if her parents chose that route.

Right now though, she is on the right path and it is great to see the birth of another huge star in VA Track. This just shows you how the best days of VA track are still ahead.

Her family brought home two gold, two silver, and three bronze medals home from the AAU Houston Games.
