Amanda Tomlin of Prince George is a relative unknown outside of the Central District. However, she started to make a name for herself this past spring with a breakthrough outdoor track season in which she posted personal bests for 800 meters (2:22), 1600 meters (5:19), and 3200 meters (11:37) as well as qualified for her first state meet. She expects to make it to her first cross country state meet out of the Central Region Meet this fall.
The Central District some years has a tough time having one individual qualifier much less two individual state qualifiers, but this year is a special year for the district with the likes of Prince George's Tomlin and Colonial Heights sophomore Catherine Pulley. Pulley was not far off Tomlin's track times this past outdoor season as only a sophomore as she clocked in at 11:44 for 3200 meters and 5:29 for 1600 meters.
