Libby Davidson Runs Thru Tendonitis For Team Title

Libby Davidson is a beast. She is a two time state champion and also now holds the second fastest time ever at states. At the start of the season this was going to be a huge year for her. It was her chance to win that Foot Locker title and also to reclaim her 4A State title. But most of all she wanted that team title for E.C. Glass.

Though she had high aspirations for the season, it just wasn't her year this year. Her training has been going great and she even signed to run for UVA... so things aren't bad. The only bad thing was that just a couple weeks before states she developed some tendonitis in the hip.

She and her coaching staff have been working with her to recover and get stronger but at regionals it began to hurt her running for the first time. Her coaches then told us that had she not wanted to and if they didn't have a chance to win their first ever team title, she would not have run at states.

Libby Davidson's Athlete Profile

That of course was not the case. Despite excruciating pain, Libby the beast Davidson fought through five thousand meters of pain for her teammates. The night before it became known to the teammates as well that if an athlete took the lead from Libby, they were not supposed to chase them down right then. They were supposed to wait until the right time to make their moves to ensure they ran the best they could.

This must have been a lot for Libby to swallow. You are talking about a girl whose worst finish at states was a second place finish to Weini Kelati.

Libby though wanted it for her team. She ran as best as she could and swallowed her pride for her teammates. She crossed the finish line in 18:25 to finish fourth. Had she not run, E.C. Glass would have lost the team title by nearly 40 points.

Though Libby was E.C. Glass' second finisher, this first ever team title for E.C. Glass belongs to Libby for being one of the most selfless greats to ever run in VA. They scored a very impressive 36 points to edge out Loudoun Valley with 88.
