LANDOVER, MD -- Midlothian boys repeat as 4xmile relay national champs with a winning time this year of 18:11.26 with strong legs from second leg Billy Berlin and anchor leg Ryan Witt. Woodrow Wilson senior Lashawn Merritt posted the fastest time in the 200m prelims (21.68) and second fastest in the 400m prelims (48.58) to put himself in good position to win both events. Hayfield boys were national runners-up in the boys SMR with a time of 3:34.16. The Kellam girls, led by sub 5 miler Natalie Serbak earned All-American honors with a 4th place finish (21:33.16) in the 4xmile relay. Two of the top three finishers in the boys' DMR reigned from the Northern Region with Herndon (2nd, 10:25.53) and Oakton (3rd, 10:29.72) having strong showings. The Forest Park girls earned All-American honors by winning the DMR slow heat with a time of 12:15.35 for a 5th place finish. The Western Albemarle girls (6th, 12:16.99) joined them on the All-American podium from the fast heat. Three Virginia boys' pole vaulters finished in the top six as Great Bridge junior Dan Magness (4th, 15-6.25), Great Bridge sophomore Michael Morrison (T-6th, 15-0.25), and Norfolk Academy senior Will Byrd (T-6th, 15-0.25) earned All-American honors. Lafayette's Dakari Watson became an All-American with a sixth place finish in the triple jump (45-3.50).
