One of the largest continents of VA athletes will be competing at NXN this year. Thanks to some very big PR's and fast times individuals Yared Mekonnen and Ryann Helmers will be joining the full squads from Loudoun Valley (boys) and Blacksburg (girls) our on Portland.
To advance onto NXN these athletes and teams had to place inside the top 5 individually or place inside the top two teams. Blacksburg though ran so strong at regionals that they advanced with an at-large invitation.
The course was previewed yesterday and with today's rain you can expect it to be mildly chilly but very muddy. This should be conducive for all these athletes who are used to hillier courses that are wet. Valley trains on Oatlands, Helmers trains on Panorama, and Mekonnen being a senior has all the experience he needs.
