PORTLAND, Or.- There may never be another team like them. With a staggering 89 points the Loudoun Valley Vikings put together their best race of the year to win the NXN Team Title. Manlius of NY was second with 159 points.
The Vikings averaged 15:51 on a rainy and muddy course as a team and finished with their scorers finishing 3rd, 6th, 13th, 16th, and 51st. Their 6th and 7th finished 63rd and 68th amongst scorers.
Peter Morris was 12th overall in 15:29 and Sam Affolder was 23rd in 15:37. Their dark horse superstar Colton Bogucki also ran well and arguably had his best race of the year with his 15:48 finish for 37th overall. Jacob Hunter was 43rd in 15:52 and Connor Wells was 95th with his 16:23 finish.
Their performance was so dominating that you could take out Affolder's score and still win the team title. In fact, you could actually take his and Wells' finish out and still finish within two points of the win... if that was the case then you could almost guarantee that Kevin Carlson and/or Chase Dawson could have run a second faster knowing what was on the line. Anyway you chalk it up, this was a team of destiny that worked very hard and won this race on years of work put in.
