The one-time 4A state champion has her sights on much bigger times and goals this season. One of them includes moving up in distance while also maintaining a very impressive and speedy range of events. Currently she is VA #1 in the 1K, VA #9 in the 500, and VA #50 in the 300m dash.

One of the most impressive things this season though has been her quick improvement over the 1,000m distance. She has toed the line against some very good talent and stood her ground well. Her best performance was certainly her 2:55 runner-up finish at the VA Showcase to eventual Millrose Mile champion Gabrielle Wilkinson.
That performance was not only fast but very telling. It showed us that Grace is not only fast but competitive. She won't care what PR you have when you toe the line and she will be ready to square off with any athlete in the country.
That high level of competitiveness should bode very well for her as she attempts to win another 500m state title and possibly her first 1K state title at the 4A State Meet this month.
Finally it is her range that we will discuss here. Her range is great but not the craziest we've ever seen (cite: Faith Ross). It is however one of the best ranges for the 800m run at nationals. If you average out both her 500 and 1000 bests this year you get a very respectable 2:11.03 800m time. That time puts her within one second of the US #1 spot.
All this means that despite and maybe even because of her small school status that Grace Boone is headed for some really big performances this season.
