Sam Affolder (Loudoun Valley)
Sam wins this award for winning multiple state titles, running one of the fastest 1600's in state history, and for running on three All-American relay teams. He was the third leg on both the 4x800 (US #2 All-Time) and the 4xMile (National Record). He anchored the third place DMR team at nationals as well.
Female Athlete of The Year
Grace Boone (Pulaski)
Grace embodied what a true athlete is. She finished the season ranked VA #1 in the 1K with her 2:55 best and also as VA #7 in the 500. What won her this award though was definitely her state meet performance where she won the 500, came back moments later, and then the 1K. If that wasn't enough she then came back again in the 300 and finished 8th in 4A. Talk about one of the toughest, most impressive, triples ever.
