Tyler Pride of Potomac Falls Capitalized On His 2nd Chance

Tyler Pride of Potomac Falls had a very solid state meet, it wasn't until his second chance though that we realized how great it was.

This junior has had a very solid season. He has racked up victories at numerous invitationals and entered the state meet on a good note.

His state meet began with a very good PR in the 110H. His wind-legal time of 14.06 led all qualifiers into the finals. He also did well in the high jump where he cleared 6-6  to set a new PR and finish second.

Next up was the 110H race where he and Daiqwaun Faircloth battled the entire way. It was Faircloth getting the lean though and thus Pride had to settle for second in 14.02. It was another PR and a solid race considering the very warm conditions.

His final individual event was the 300mH. He was running well but not that great down the homestretch. It was then that he was interfered with by another runner who blatantly cut him off. Luckily for him, he would get a second shot.

Nearly two hours later, during the break after the 200s, Tyler was offered a chance to run his own race over that 300H distance. He made the most of it of course and to the cheers of the crowd crossed the line in 39.00. That dropped a huge .53 seconds off of his PR and was good enough to finish fourth.

Whether it was the crowd or the spotlight that pulled him thru we will not know. What we do know though is that he is a competitor and made the most of his second chance.
