Monroe Parker Invitational Preview
Up on the historic Burke Lake Park 2.98 Mile course we should have one of the best meets of the entire season. This will be the season opener for many elite athletes and teams but also will be the best preview of the 6A North Regional (C/D) meets all year.
Leading the way overall for teams in this meet West Springfield on the Girls side and W.T. Woodson on the Boys side. Chasing them is Tuscarora on the girls and West Springfield on the guys. All of these team battles should be very close and will definitely come down to who brings their full squad to compete on the day of competition.
Monroe Parker Virtual Meet
Individually there are a couple big names to watch. First in the guys' race we have top returner in the state Edward Cerne of Lake Braddock. He is looking to continue the Bruin tradition of XC excellence and definitely wants to open up the season in a big way. Look for a big performance from this sub 15 guy.
Also in that race we have Kevin Murphy of James Madison and Max Greczyn of Bishop O'Connell who are fighting to make bigger names for themselves. Both are established runners with great personal bests but what they both want is a really fast time and a big win to their name. That could make for a deadly combination in an early season race.
2017 Results & Coverage
Over in the girls competition defending champion Julia Ghiselli is back and ready for a fast time. She will be joined by Ava Hassebrock, Sophie Tedesco, Sarah Coleman, Laura Webb and state 800m champion Nicole Re.
This race could be a dogfight throughout or could turn into a time-trial quick for Ghiselli as she looks to have a much better season this year.
