Not even Rachel's coaches saw this one coming. That is what Atlee's head coach had to say after Rachel Mudd's huge victory at the MileStat.com XC Invitational. She not only won but also ran a VA #2 17:44 on the very fast Pole Green course.
The race started out unlike what anyone could have predicted either.
Thru the opening Mile it was all Mudd with Mary Caroline Heinen and Julia Ghiselli chasing. That order surprisingly never changed as they made their way around the course. Ultimately they finished 1-2-3 with Mudd running 17:44, MC running 17:56, and Ghiselli running 18:05.
Colonial Forge ended up winning the team title and W.T. Woodson finished second.
