CHARLOTTE, NC. - Virginia Episcopal junior, Daniel O'Brien, is headed to the Foot Locker National Championships out in San Diego. He advances to nationals thanks to his third place finish at the Foot Locker South Regional. He ran 15:07 which is VA #2 this season and one of the faster times we have seen in recent years at McApline Park.
Dan showed everyone he was in legit shape at the Dash for Doobie Invitational (NC) last week where he ran 9:07 for the 3200. He used that confidence to help him today and that confidence was evident throughout the race. He opened strong and stayed in the front pack for the first two miles. He lost a little steam around the lake against two super-kickers from Texas but held his own for 3rd place.
Dan joins Price Owens, Micah Pratt, and Drew Hunter as a Virginian making Foot Locker Nationals as a junior in high school in the past five years.
