CARY, Nc. - The Blacksburg Bruins did it yet again! These lady Bruins will be headed back to NXN in Portland after finishing second at NXN-SE and after finishing second at States. All season long Coach Brandon Bear was saying their goal of the season was NXN and he is surely happy today. They not only placed second but also almost won the meet. They scored 159 while Chiles of Florida won the meet with 156. Loudoun Valley finished 6th with 217 and West Springfield finished 10th with 227.
Leading Blacksburg was Kaitlynn Wolfe (18:32) who finished 10th overall. Blacksburg did what they had to and front-ran like champs. Their top four finished before Chiles' top three and their fifth and sixth runners came to work today.
Having their best meet of the year Saturday was also Hidden Valley high from Roanoke. They finished an impressive 3rd place and missed NXN by just 40 points (199). They were led by Emma Rogers and Sophia Pineda who scored 26 and 27 points respectively. This is the fourth time they have finished third in this race and they will be hoping for one of the at-large bids.
Ricky Fetterolf of Loudoun Valley just missed advancing onto NXN by finishing 16th overall. Her teammate Elise Abbe finished 9th. Fetterolf ran 18:05 and Abbe went 18:19.
