Many athletes have the pieces to be great, few though put them all together. Max Etka entered high school highly touted, he actually led the state as a frosh too. Since then it has been a roller coaster that has seen him push himself mentally and physically.
This entire year you could see something special coming and that was made clearer at the XC state meet with his 6th place finish. Indoors though he has shaken off the inconsistency and traded it in for PR's left and right. This past week in fact he notched PR's in the 1K, Mile, and Two Mile.
It all started at the VA Showcase where he got a chance to race some real competition. He finished 13th with a 4:23 Mile PR. He followed that up this past weekend with a winning 9:39 in the Two Mile and a third place finish of 2:34 in the 1K.
Midlothian coaches Stan Morgan and Dan Ward both are quick to say that Etka has the fitness to do huge things. That of course is no surprise now seeing him run those times on flat tracks.
Etka of course though is just one of many athletes who PR'd big at the St. Christopher's Invitational. Check out all the results, videos, and coverage at the links below.
