Relays Preview
Aside from the aforementioned 4x400m relays we will also have the 4x800 and 4x200 relays to add some big time excitement to the weekend. The 4x800 will be up first on Friday and will be the only timed final on the track Friday evening.
The favorites for these races are West Springfield in both Class 6 races and basically the entire 5B region in both Class 5 races. Those teams include L.C. Bird, Deep Run, Atlee, Douglas Freeman, and Glen Allen. Those teams are familiar with each other meaning strategy will be huge part of these two fast races.
Then on Saturday we will have the 4x200s which are also all about strategy and getting great positioning. These races are tough points to get though because getting the stick around and running in lane one is not the easiest thing at full speed.
First up will be the Class 5 races with Nansemond River girls and Potomac Senior boys. Each of these teams is definitely the favorite on paper but will face some competition. Highland Springs will definitely contend in both races as well will L.C. Bird and Salem.
Next up will be the Class 6 races where Western Branch is favored in both. South County and South Lakes though will make things interesting in the girls race while Colonial Forge and Cosby should shake things up on the guys' side.
