Sprint/Hurdle Preview
Just like last year, this year will be a year with tons of close races and bragging rights on the line in the fastest, shortest races of the weekend. The biggest of which will be the Class 6 girls in the 55 where Shadajah Ballard, Na'Taja Ballard, and Jazmine Tilmon will battle with defending champion Hannah Waller. These girls will face tough competition from Waller who is also the defending champion in the 300 too. The Ballard sisters though won the 100, 200, and 400 outdoors.
In the Class 6 500 Aly Conyers leads the way with teammate Zoey Goldstein right behind. Mary Gregory, Adriana Shockley, and Merasia Johnson should not be counted out either.
In Class 5 55m dash Junyce Hasberry leads the way with Brene' Donaldson and Makhia Jarrett right behind. Up in the 300 and 500 though it will be a battle between Kori Carter, Aaliyah Pyatt, and Britton Wilson. Wilson being the defending champion in the 300 and 500 and is US #2 all-time in the 500 and US #3 all-time in the 300.
Over on the guys' side Javonte' Harding, Jaden Payoute, and Bryan Ahouman battle it out in the short dash while EJ Richardson and the Hill brothers (Jeremiah and Josiah) will battle in the 300 and 500. EJ's teammate Johnathan Mitchell Jr is not someone to forget either in both the 300 and 500.
Finally in the Class 6 guys' competition we have a super fast race between Chris Tyree, Ibrahim Bangura, and Kurt Powdar in store for the crowd at Boo and online. This race could be the decider for the state team title and just minutes after hurdles meaning it could be a tough one for Powdar.
Aaron Shirley, Josh Duval, Zack Kindel, and Kurt Powdar will all be battling in the 300 with Shirley leading the way also in the 500. Doval Simonds, Ed Deskins, and Isaiah Carter are also guys to watch in the 300m dash.
Finally will be the hurdle races which feature Kurt Powdar, Shadajah Ballard, Kori Carter, Jazmine Tilmon, Matthew Mitchell, William Spencer, and Keyandre Midgett. The national records are on alert too in the both the Class 6 races with Powdar and Ballard favored.
