2014 Season: Humble Beginnings
Throughout her high school career Syaira was a silent killer. She would year and year out produce times that would turn heads but oddly enough she rarely was the big star on her team, let alone the state.
This all started when she was a freshman at Smithfield High School. This 4A school was not particularly known for track and despite that she was still able to finish highly at states in multiple events.
She took home 2nd in the 400m dash in 56.01 and 8th in the 200 in 25.27. Solid times for 4A and for a freshman. That of course was not enough for her.
What happened next changed her life. Her and her family moved just a few miles to their neighboring district and a school just nine miles away to make the girls who beat her at states her teammates.
