In a short two year high school career in Virginia at Prince George High School after transferring in from North Carolina, Shareese Woods was one of the best quarter milers that the state has seen this decade and arguably has been the most successful post-high school at the 400 meter dash. Woods was the 2003 Group AAA state champion at 400 meters and was a state runner-up in 2002 to another great in Faraign Giles, who she upset in her 2003 victory with a high school best of 55.84.

She has dropped her time significantly since then in a collegiate career filled with school records and NCAA All-American honors at UNC-Charlotte followed by an ongoing and promising young career running professional for adidas. Woods has won an US Indoor Championships title at 400 meters and just came up short in making the US teams for World Championships and the 2008 Olympic Games after advancing to the finals.
