County Christian freshman Abriel Thrash is headed back north with a gold medal in the 800 meter run. Her winning time is a VA No. 2 for freshmen this season, 2:13.29. To win that race she edged out Micah Trusty of PA who ran 2:13.38.
As a freshman she now owns personal bests of 2:13 in the 800 and 57.14 in the 400. Both are some of the, if not the fastest, time for a freshman in VA and the US. The only time faster this year by a VA frosh is Aniya Mosely's 2:13.28.
She currently runs for her high school, Country Christian, in Ashburn which did not compete in the VISAA States this season.
