This weekend over 1,000 athletes and nearly 50 teams will descend on Colonial Williamsburg and the College of William & Mary for the 61st annual installment of this meet.
Virtual Meet
Highlighting the competition this weekend will most likely be the girls' varsity race. In this race we should see a superstar showdown between Rachel Mudd of Atlee and Allie Martin of Preston ( ).
Both of these ladies will be attempting to help their team win as well but leading the way into the weekend is West Forsyth of North Carolina as our top team on paper. Behind them is Atlee, Forest Park, and then Norfolk Academy.
On the boys' team side First Flight and Lexington both of NC look to be the title contenders with VA's Maggie Walker and Glen Allen fighting for the bronze. Of course that is why you run the meet and we could see any order of these teams at the podium.
Individual wise on the boys' side it is only Ian Sellors representing VA inside the top eight with quite a few NC guys packed in that front group. Leading the way on paper is Zach Hughes, a senior from First Flight with a person best of 15:49.
The weekend should remain dry and mild which means we should see some fast races on a course not particularly known for its speed.
