The departure of Maggie Walker from Class 2 to Class 3 certainly has changed the landscape here. Jumping up for the occasion is Union High School who currently leads the team competition. Glenvar, Floyd, and Alleghany are also potentially scoring under 100 so this could end up being closer than it is on paper.
Remember, in such a small meet with just 84 scorers, every second counts and sometimes a runner moving back just five seconds could mean a fifteen point swing.
Individually leading the way right now is Caleb Wright. He was 11th a year ago. The top returner from last year and currently number two in the state for Class 2 is Daniel Zearfoss. The battle between them and others should be one to watch this November.
