A total of 1,844 runners among the 2,441 finishers in the high school 5K races achieved new 5K personal best times, which means an amazing percentage of 75.55% ran PR's! Perfect weather and course conditions including huge fields on the completely flat upper course laid the ground work for today's magical day of fast times.
On average, girls runners improved their PR's by 45.93 seconds with 2:02.10 being the median of the field. Greatest time drop of 7 minutes and 56.20 seconds belonged to Peninsula Catholic's Diana Ibarra. Meanwhile for the boys, 26.75 seconds was the average time of improvement with 26.67 being the median of the field. Greatest time drop of 9 minutes and 5.49 seconds belonged to West Point's Preston Mixon.
