VA Showcase's Millrose Mile Qualifier Preview

Caleb Brown (OH) is the current top entry in the boys' mile and was 3rd at NXN last month.

The 2020 VA Showcase is excited to once again be the only Millrose Mile qualifier not at the storied Armory Track in New York City. To receive the automatic qualifying into this prestigious event the winners of the VA Showcase mile must run 4:14.99 (boys) 4:54.99 (girls) or faster.

Last year's qualifier races were won by Jake Renfree (TN) in 4:13.7 and Taryn Parks (PA) in 4:55.7. Parks went on to finish 3rd at Millrose and win the national title indoors. Renfree went on to finish 2nd in a photo finish at Millrose and also won the national title indoors.

On top of the Mile event, the 55m Dash, 300m Dash, and 500m Dash will also serve as auto-qualifiers into the 55, 300, and 600 this February. These other races do not have any time restrictions, they are win & you're in.

Below you can find the current top entries in these two qualifiers. Only about 50% of entries are in though so you can expect a few different names on this list when the performance lists are released 1/13.

About the NYRR Millrose Games

With a storied history that spans more than a century, the NYRR Millrose Games is one of track and field's most prestigious and enduring annual events. A New York City sports staple, the meet moved to the New Balance Track & Field Center at The Armory in Washington Heights in 2012 after having called Madison Square Garden home from 1914 to 2011. The Games-established by employees of Wanamaker's Department Store-features track and field's most prolific male and female stars as well as collegiate, high school, club and youth competitors. More than 200 athletes share the distinction of being both Millrose and Olympic champions. In November of 2013, New York Road Runners became the title sponsor of the NYRR Millrose Games, which is owned by The Armory Foundation. The NYRR Millrose Games is a USATF television series event and The Armory Foundation appreciates the support of USA Track and Field.
