Group AAA Boys Preview

The Mountain View boys will look to not only get on the state meet podium for the second time in three years, but also claim the school’s first state title. In the first cross country season without Thomas Porter leading the Wildcats, Mountain View is in its best situation since the school opened five years ago to win a state cross country team title. Their victory at the Northwest Region Championships last week at Panorama Farms was dominant with Mountain View placing six runners among the top 15 with a 16:38 average for a team score of 28 points. No other regional team champion in Group AAA won by a wider margin than Mountain View’s 48 point difference between themselves and second place Albemarle. Coach Dave Davis has no distinct front runner on his squad, but has the best pack of all contending teams (30 second spread at regionals) and strongest in the fifth runner position.
