Longtime starter Vaughan La Prade passed away Sunday at the age of 87. He would have turned 88 this June. Many remember him as one of the most memorable starters in the Richmond region where he has been working for close to 50 years.

Vaughan was also a longtime support of Manchester High School Athletics and could be spotted starting every Manchester Relays. Many of today's coaches were also started by La Prade.

La Prade wasn't just a track starter, he also was a started for swim meets and even was a boxing referee. He did all of these positions well into his 80's. He truly loved his position as an official and was always there when a meet needed him.
