Five VA Stars Punch Their Tickets To San Diego

It was quite the weekend for VA athletes down in Charlotte this past Saturday with five athletes punching their ticket to Foot Locker Nationals in San Diego. Just 40 athletes make it in the entire country.

On the boys' side it was Berkley Nance qualifying with his 14:55, 4th place finish. This was his third race sub 15 this season. Nance also qualified for NXN which will take place this weekend.

In the girls race we saw four girls qualify for Nationals. Leading the way for Team VA was Allie Zealand who finished in 3rd, Maddie Gardiner was 5th, Reese Dalton was 8th, and Zoie Lamanna was 9th. Sadie Adams (running unattached this season) finished in 11th and just outside of the final qualifying spot.

Zealand, Gardiner, and Dalton all also qualified for NXN.

If you're not used to seeing or hearing about VA athletes qualifying for both championships, you aren't going crazy. This is the first year that NXR and FLS are held on different weekends thus allowing VA athletes to qualify for both. Prior to this year the races were held ~2 hours apart on the same day in cities over two hours away from each other essentially making it impossible to do both.
