From 12th in the state during XC to state leader in one day. That is what Gainesville sophomore Trent Daniels has done with his state leading 4:19 (1600) and 9:19 (3200).
This was quite the opener for Daniels who ran over 10 minutes this time last year for his opener in the 3200 and 4:44 in the same meet for the 1600. Those times are not a shock considering he also dropped 80 seconds on his XC PR as well.
Those improvements lead us to believe that though these times are very fast, they are just the beginning of what should be a fun and fast season.
Later this season we expect him to get in some fast miles and two miles which could lead to a sub 4:15 and close to 9-flat in the two mile.
The interesting thing to see will be how much this sophomore chases times versus good races as both are going to be equally important as his career progresses. No matter what he chases, this sophomore is just getting going and we cannot wait to see what the future holds.
