Louisa Moves Up, Takes The Win

Moving up in classification from Class 4 to Class 5 can be a big jump, that didn't matter to Louisa County this year as they stepped up big and took home the state title in the Class 5 Boys 4x800m Relay.

You can't write a better story than four runners finishing in 13th a year ago at states to come back a year later (in a bigger classification) and win it all. The quartet of Hayden Pugh, Taylen Soriano, Nathaniel Wilson, and William Moore did just that.

Together the ran 7:58.83 with splits of 1:59.75, 1:59.44, 2:01, and 1:58.70.

When you turn the clock back a year this same quartet split 2:03, 2:06, 2:07, and 2:03. It just shows you what a team is capable of when you work day in and day out to improve. It doesn't take any one person dropping a huge amount of time but it does involve everyone doing the best they can and doing their part.

Their Coach, Coach Jerry Cutright was happy they took care of business. He noted that they had come close to the school record multiple times this season and was happy they were able to put it together at the state meet.
