Eric Johnson named ODAC Runner of the Week

Maroon Sophomore Led RC to Championship of Maroon Invitational

SALEM, VA --Roanoke College sophomore Eric Johnson (Topsham, ME/Mt. Ararat) has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference cross country Runner of the Week after leading the Maroons to the championship of the 2004 Maroon Invitational on Saturday. This is the first time Johnson has received the award.

The sophomore led for a majority of Saturday's race in Salem, eventually winning the individual title with a 28:09 for the 8K race. Johnson's winning time was 47 seconds better than the second place runner. He helped the Maroons to a 33-point victory over second place Eastern Mennonite University. After placing fourth at last season's ODAC Championship race, Johnson has led the Maroons in three of four races this season and has one of the conference's top-10 overall times this season.

Johnson and his Maroon teammates will be back in action on the cross country course this coming Saturday. Roanoke will run in the Division I East Carolina University Invitational in Greenville, NC.
