Here's Who's Headed To XC Nationals

Virginia will be sending four athletes west for the cross country National Championships this month.

It was a historic season in Virginia with fast times and close state title races. Putting on one last show for the season were the NXR and Foot Locker South regionals. Some Virginia athletes though aren't done yet and still have one race to go!

Qualifying for NXN

Virginia will have just one athlete headed to NXN and that will be Charlottesville's Elaina Pierce. She finished 5th overall in a time of 17:15.

Nearly joining her in the girls race was Adeline Barker of West Springfield who finished in 9th overall. She was the first scorer for the Spartans as well who finished 4th overall and just seven points shy of qualifying for NXN.

In the boys' race our top finisher was Class 6 state champion Tristan Thurneysen of Chantilly. He finished 12th overall.

Qualifying for Foot Locker

Virginia will have three athletes headed to sunny San Diego for the Foot Locker Nationals. Leading the way on the boys' side will be Tristan Yoder of Broadway who finished 3rd in the region with his 15:00 clocking.

Joining him will be Kerrigan Chaney of North Cross and Kate Loescher of Colonial Forge. These athletes finished 5th and 9th respectively running 17:13 and 17:21.

Just missing the cutoff were a pair of Gainesville runners in Trent Daniels (15th) and Caroline Tribett (13th).
