10. Class 5 Boys 4x200m Relay: Big Team Scores On The Line
Nansemond River needs big points here and Bayside might be running Andrew Salvodon on their relay so this could be a fun one to watch with big team points on the line.
9. Class 4 Girls 55mH: Even Bigger Team Scores On The Line
Two Manor ladies and Tori Goodson of Atlee will likely battle it out here to help decide how the team title battle will eventually finish.
8. Class 6 Boys 55mH: Featuring VA #3 All-time Joshua-Kai Smith
Joshua-Kai has already had a stellar season and could potentially win multiple events (again) at the state meet. This one is interesting though as he is creeping ever closer to Grant Holloway's state record in the hurdles.
7. Class 2 Girls 1K/500/300: Featuring Abigail Rhudy
Talk about a triple! Abigail Rhudy (Tazewell) is going to try and do the Grace Boone triple back-to-back-to-back!
6. Class 6 Girls 300m Dash: Featuring Rambo & Mason
This race will have some team score implications but the real fun is the match-up of the outdoor sprint queen (Sophie Rambo) and the current indoor sprint queen (Mia Mason). Between the two of them they lead the entire state in five events. Though they will face off in the 55m dash, this is the real matchup where it will come down to grit and toughness to see who wins.
5. Class 3 Boys 1K: Featuring US #1 Cole Boone
Cole is already your state record holder and is running so fast he could take down the national record (2:22.28) in this event. This will be his only event at the state meet so he will be looking for a statement as he enters the post-season.
4. Class 6 Girls 1K: Featuring Elliott, Vanek, & Loescher
Three titans of the distance races are going to be squaring off here and it should be a fun one. This will also be a tough race with most of the athletes also running the 1600 or 4x8. Five laps here could decide major team points and a higher spot on the all-time list.
3. Class 6 Girls 55mH: Featuring VA #1, #2, & #3
If there is one event that has the smallest margin of error, this would be it. You have Mia Mason, Ava Rice, and Shakayla Lavender all battling it out over the five barriers in this race. Pending they all make the finals cleanly they will be next to each other on the track in this fun final.
2. Class 5 Boys 500: Featuring National Record Holder Andrew Salvodon
Just over a month ago Salvodon made his move and he hasn't looked back. He is the national record holder in this event and anytime he runs you need to watch. This could be another record attempt or just fun to watch someone run that fast.
1. The 4x400m Relays
Finally we come to the event(s) you cannot miss. All across the state there will be fun relays but the best part is at least one, and maybe more, team title will come down to the 4x4. Watch these to see who gets the team title!
