WLU men and women win VA Division II/III State Meet

HARRISONBURG, VA -- Both Washington & Lee University Men's and Women's Cross Country teams competed in the annual Virginia Division II / III State Cross Country Meet on the hilly Peakview cross country course in Harrisonburg Virginia. Both teams came away from the meet with the team championship honors. Individually Nathan Johnson won his second race in two weeks.

Nathan Johnson lead the way for the Generals as they put six guys in the top 15, Johnson was first (27:32). Steve Chambers crossed the line 3rd overall in 28:31. Wes Bell came through in 7th (28:55), while the pack of Andrew Johnson (29:22), Andrew Friski (29:30) and Ben Stinson (29:32) finished 10th, 11th and 12th. Jack Jeong rounded out the top seven in 16th (29:58)

Freshmen Lindsay Erickson teamed up with Sophomore Tippins Stone to finish 2nd and 3rd overall. The Lady Generals had 5 runners finish in the top 15. Lindsay finished in 24:50, with Tippins coming in at 25:35. Betsy Frayer was the third W&L runner crossing the line 6th overall (26:03). Kelley Zwart (26:21) and Debra Kubas (26:23) ended up 13th and 14th. Jenny Ratzel finished 17th in a time of 26:48 with Sarah Williamson rounding out the top 7 finishing 29th in 27:05
