Christian and Harrison lead UVA at Pre-Nats

The Virginia men\'s and women\'s cross country teams competed at the NCAA Pre-Nationals meet held at Indiana State University today. Will Christian led the men\'s team while first-year Emily Harrison led the women with a top-25 finish. Harrison finished 25th with a 21:17.2 while Christian just nipped teammate Alex Tatu by 2.5 seconds, finishing with a 24:57.4.

The Cavalier men finished 22nd as a team with 508 points, with Christian taking 60th and Tatu 65th. Soeren Lindner, racing in his first competition this year, finished just 16 seconds behind Tatu at 25:15.7 in 92nd place. Ryan Foster was also running his first race of the year and finished in fourth for the Cavaliers in 25:38.9.

Harrison led the Cavalier women again while captain Cheryl Carr finished 77th overall with a 21:59.7, second among the Hoos. Sara Ensrud, Jen Beury, and Laura Hodges ran in a pack separated by just 13 seconds.

The Cavaliers are off until the ACC Championships, held in College Park on October 30.
