The Lynchburg College cross country teams competed Friday in the 15th Annual Hatter Invitational, hosted by Stetson University. Brian Kirby (Alexandria, VA/Edison) finished 19th in 28:19 and Kevin Graves (Silver Spring, MD/Good Counsel) was 21st in 28:23.
The Hornet women's team took eighth place in a 14-team race. Senior Crystal Bergen (Berkeley Springs, WV/Berkeley Springs) placed 23rd in 20:24, Kelly Archibald (Richmond, VA/Mills Godwin) was 27th in 20:33 and Emily Yost (Herndon, VA/Herndon) finished 44th in 21:15. Amanda Diver (Boxford, MA/Masconomet) was 48th in 21:20 and Michelle O'Rourke (West Islip, NY/West Islip) rounded out LC's top five in 69th place (22:19).
Lynchburg is off next week in preparation for the 2004 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships (ODAC), to be held Oct. 30 in Harrisonburg, VA. The LC women look to defend their ODAC title, while the men will attempt to capture their fifth conference title in the last six years.
