Hamill and Garrahan earn All-American honors again

Garrahan & Hamill EAU CLAIRE, WI -- Former Virginia high school preps Carter Hamill (Collegiate HS - Richmond, VA) and Shauneen Garrahan (Thomas Jefferson HS - Alexandria, VA) once again earned All-American honors at the NCAA Division III National Cross Country Championships with fifth and 24th place showings respectively. The meet was hosted in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

Hamill became a four-time All-America award winner as she crossed the line in a time of 21:34.4 for the 6,000 meter course, while Garrahan was clocked in a time of 22:18.3 for her second consecutive All-American honor.

Both athletes were All-Americans during the track season last year as Hamill was a national champion in the indoors 5,000 meter run and outdoors 10,000 meter run. Meanwhile, Garrahan earned three All-American honors as a freshmen with second and third place finishes in the outdoor 3,000 meter steeplechase and 5,000 meter run to go along with her tenth place showing at last year's NCAA Cross Country Championships.

Another former Virginia high school graduate from Virginia performed admirably in Coast Guard Academy sophomore Mike Flint. The 2003 graduate of Annandale High School (Annandale, VA) finished 53rd overall in the men's 8K race with a time of 25:32. Flint had qualified individually for his first NCAA Nationals competition out of the Northeast Regional meet with a 14th place finish.
